Lake of the Ozarks State Park
Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campgrounds is one of the hidden gems of the Lake area. With well-kept campsites for tents and RVs, trails, beaches, and lake access, it's heaven to anybody who loves the outdoors.
Lake of the Ozarks State Park is quite large and runs along a big chunk of highway at the Lake. To get to the campground itself, you need to take Highway 42 to Brumley, and follow the signs from there. It's well worth the trip out of town, because once you get there, you're in for a treat.
Most of the campsites are open year-round with varying ammenities like wheelchair accessibility, running water, restrooms, showers, laundry, a playground, and more. The types of sites range from dry camping to sites with 50 amp electric hookupsm and full hookups with sewer. Family campsites are larger sites with two of everything, so the whole extended family can stay together.
A few cabins and yurts are also available for rental. They feature a small refridgerator, microwave, sleeping loft, and outdoor picnic and cooking area. There are air conditioners and heaters so you can stay comfy whether it's summer or winter. Dogs are allowed in select cabins and yurts, and a few are wheelchair accessible as well. What a fun way to stay in the great outdoors.
Once you've set up camp, there are plenty of activities to keep you moving or relaxed. An extensive trail system welcomes hiking, bicycling, and even trail riding through the pristine Ozark woodlands. There's a nearby swimming beach to enjoy with the kids. It's a beautiful area that just begs to be explored. Any nature lover or first-time hiker will be delighted.
A park store is on-site to offer any sundries you may have forgotten. The helpful park staff is happy to answer any questions you have about the area. Some sites are available for reservations, and some are held for drive-ups. There's a two night minimum stay on weekends.
